International students. Look where no one’s looking

Hello Everyone,

I hope you’re all enjoying the end of 2015. I enjoyed the almost summer-like weather in my favorite city in the entire world, NYC, during Christmas.

NYC may hire many international students but it’s wise to target less popular cities in the U.S if you want to increase your chances of staying in the country after graduation. One smart job search strategy for international students to consider is to target U.S states that have quality employers in their field of choice but struggle to attract qualified candidates. Less supply means more pressure on employers to find good candidates which in turn means that jobs may be open to those who need an H-1B visa. This simple strategy is something I emphasize in my book The International Advantage Get Noticed. Get Hired! See below and put this tip to use!

While most international students are excited about targeting employers in sunny and popular states such as CA, many neglect parts of the country that may not be considered as desirable but could very well have great H-1B friendly employers that might be excited about the chance to interview and hire an international student. Check out the article below for extra motivation to get off the beaten path.
